Signage
Read on to learn about these signage displaying techniques. Here is how we shall begin... Company Name ClarityFor instance, I am setting up a company, Amanda Pte Ltd. Could you tell what this company does? So coming up with a relevant company name is important. How about Amanda Maid Agency Pte Ltd? Now, it is obvious that I am running a maid agency. So what shall we do next? After getting a relevant name, we shall then get a signboard that can truly reflect the company's nature. Logo CreationThe logo should have been done at an early stage when starting a business. These logos will have 2 versions: square and rectangular. I am not literally saying it must be a square or rectangular logo. What we need is a versatile design that can fit into a square or rectangular box as needed. The rectangular version is for signboards. What about the square one? The square logo is for your website logo and social profile. Imagine after setting up your company and are ready to launch your online presence, only to realise that your rectangular logo does not fit into the site's picture container. When this happens, any uploaded image will be cropped. In other words, the logo will be cut off at the side. Oh my goodness! What to do then? So it is better to think of the logo before getting any of your signage. We will talk more about this in our next post: logo design.
Main SignboardOf all signage, the main signboard is the most essential, representing the company as a whole. The logo, wording styles, colours, and material selection will all affect the signboard's appearance, which is the company's image. Signboard Material SelectionMetal - A real robust feel, showing credibility and supremeness. Plastic - Fun, lovely feel. Just relax and have fun. Wood - A nature material that will make us feel comfortable. Using my maid agency as an example, I will go for either plastic or wood. Metal is kind of masculine for a maid agency. No, there is no sexual discrimination here. We just have to follow the social norms. P.S. I didn't blindly follow social norms. So, after we have confirmed the company name, logo, and main signboard, we can then start planning for the rest of the signage. Office SignsOffice signs help us to organise stuff and navigation. We can have door signs for different rooms, such as the admin room, the store room, the pantry, and so on. Office signs also help in the establishment of rules and regulation, such as no smoking, no entry, etc., Die Cut StickerDie-cut stickers are mostly used for displaying company operating hours and information on the glass doors or shutters. They can also be pasted onto the wall as motivational quotes and company taglines. Frosted StickerThe frosted sticker is primarily used for privacy. It does sound rather strange to be categorized into signage products which are meant for publicity. Seems it is meant for privacy. How does it aid in communication, marketing or advertising? We can incorporate a frosty effect into our design. As a result, we will get the best of both worlds: privacy and publicity. Frosted stickers offer a high level of privacy and yet do not completely block light sources. They are widely used in hospitals, clinics, and money lending agencies, among other places where confidentiality is highly regarded. Wall GraphicWe can beautify the place with scenery prints, showcasing our products and services on the wall. How about creating a timeline or milestone graphic? It is definitely awesome to have this information displayed on the wall. Window AdvertisingWindow advertising is extremely important to the retail business. They can draw crowds and increase sales. I will recommend visiting this site for further reading. They post a really good explanation of that. SECONDARY SIGNAGEAnd now we can plan for a few more signs to maximise our exposure. is not by having signage everywhere, which will incur huge costs. Double Sided SignsThese signs are placed on the walkway to help draw attention from both walking directions. Back Lane SignsIsn't it a waste of money to construct any signs in the back alley? These signs are not really meant to generate publicity. They are intended to guide the clients who drive to park their vehicles directly behind or at least near to their shop. A simple acrylic sign will do the job well. Outdoor AdvertisingWe can place pull-up banner, poster stand and movable light box at the walkway. However, bear in mind not to obstruct the traffic or cause any inconvenience to others or your neighbouring shops will most likely voice out their disapproval. Surely, we want to be in a good relationship with our neighbours. I won't advise on hanging outdoor banners for long-term use. Banners don't last long under rain and shine. If it was meant for real estate advertising, then it shall be fine. Before the banner shows signs of wear out, the property shall have been sold or rented out. Banners will be also be ideal for use in opening announcements and promotions.
